Kenny Chesney Concert Cut Short by Rain PDF Print E-mail
Kenny ChesneyKenny Chesney's performance at Pizza Hut Stadium in Frisco, TX was halted by pouring rain Saturday night amid heavy thunderstorms in the Dallas area.  The concert was stopped 50 minutes into his set as the stage was deemed unsafe according to Chesney's publicist.  "I think it's best for everybody if we get the hell out of here," Chesney finally announced from the stage.  He had already performed such hits as "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" and "I Go Back" as well as an appropriate "Something Sexy About the Rain" from his album "Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair."

"Looking at all those people soaked to the bone, having the time of their lives through all that weather, all I saw was a lot of heart and a lot of passion for what we - all of us, me and them - were doing," Chesney said afterward. "If that's not sexy, that being there through some really nasty weather, because they'd come to have a good time and nothing was going to stop them, what is? So you wanna do something really special, that marks this moment you've just shared...'Something Sexy About The Rain' seemed the perfect song for the moment."

Tourmates Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert had already played sets in the storm though Sugarland had cancelled prior to the start of the show.  Lambert opened her act with a take on Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain."
