The new single, “I Want My Life Back,” is yet another bright marker on the road to musical success that Bucky Covington began when he taught himself how to play guitar at the age of 18. Although best known for his vocal abilities so aptly demonstrated when he placed eighth on the 5th season of American Idol, he Bucky also plays bass, drums, and writes songs. His appearances on American Idol ultimately paved the way to a recording contract with Lyric Street Records in December of 2006, and his self-titled debut album, released in April of 2007, produced three hit singles for him: “A Different World;” “I’ll Walk;” and “It’s Good To Be Us.” “I Want My Life Back,” was first released on April 20th of this year as the lead-off single for his sophomore album expected to be out this coming September. It entered our countdown for the first time on May 30th, 2009. The following week it fell out of the top 40, then reentered the countdown on June 13th and has been moving steadily up the chart ever since. Written by Frank Meyers and Anthony Smith, the lyrics of the song are somber, yet sobering to the many who can identify with it. "This song struck me the first time I heard it," Bucky said. "It's such an emotional and powerful song that really hits home with today's times and I'm proud to be able to share the positive message." |
