CMA Award Noms Announced PDF Print E-mail

Brad PaisleyDarius Rucker and LeeAnn Womack announced the nominees for the the 2009 CMA Awards on "Good Morning America" yesterday.  While Kenny Chesney was nominated for his fifth Entertainer of the Year Award, which would break his tie with Garth Brooks, the real story was Brad Paisley running away with six nominations, ahead of the four for Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, George Strait, Jamey Johnson and the Zac Brown Band.  Paisley, who is co-hosting the awards show with Carrie Underwood, was nominated for Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album, Single, Song and Video of the Year.

Swift became the youngest nominee for the Entertainer of the Year award and the first female solo act since Faith Hill in 2000.  While none of the awards seem like a sure bet the New Artist of the Year field is particularly tight with  Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, Darius Rucker and the Zac Brown Band competing.

The awards will be aired live from Nashville on the ABC network on November 11 at 8 p.m., ET.
