March 7 Birthdays

Townes Van Zandt, who wrote hits like "If I Needed You" and "Pancho and Lefty" and was a songwriting legend among peers in both the rock and country worlds, was born on this date. And March 7 marks the anniversaries of the first Opry performances of Randy Travis, in 1986, and Sara Evans, in 1998. Both, by the way, debuted with Hank Williams songs. To all of you celebrating birthdays today, we send our best.
