I’d like to request “Mama’s Song” by Carrie Underwood. My mom and I have always been close. We didn’t always get along, but we have come a long way since my rebellious teenage years.
She has helped me become a great young mom with my one-year-old daughter and has helped my husband Jon and I as much as she possibly could while we started our own little family. Although, she wasn’t ready for me to move out and move on, she understood that it was time for me to spread my wings and start a life with Jon.
My mom is not just my mom. She is also my best friend, and the one I turn to for advice, inspiration, and wisdom when life gets a little crazy! I only hope that someday my daughter, Shelby and I can become as close as my own mom and I have been and hopefully always will be!
When I was really young, my parents divorced and growing up, my father wasn’t around much. So, my mom had to work twice as hard to provide for us always making sure she never missed any activity I was involved in. Mom was always there for me whenever I needed a shoulder to cry on or a friend just to make me laugh.
Growing up, she sacrificed many things I never knew about, just to make sure I was happy. And now that I’m older, looking back, I had everything. She was not only my mom, but she was my number one fan; someone I could confide in, and my best friend.
Would you please play Reba McEntire’s “I’ll Be” for all the single moms out there who may not know it, but someday their kids will grow up to realize all the sacrifices their moms made to give their kids a better life. I know my mom did.
