Listener Request - July 14, 2012

Hi Bob,

My special request is in tribute to my mom, who I lost at the age of 89.  She really was somebody’s hero.  When we grew up, we didn’t have the things people have today… like washing machines!  And mom took care of all four of us, always making sure we were well taken care of.

As we grew older, we got married and then, mom got sick ending up in a nursing home.  Every time I hear “Somebody’s Hero” I get goose bumps, because this is exactly what happened to us.  She was our mom, our hero, and is now our “angel.”  Miss you, ma.

Thank you,
Randolph, MA

Dear Bob,

Shawn and I met 12 years ago at our county fair.  Shawn was walking around one of the cattle barns and he caught my eye.  So what did I do?   I simply walked up and just asked him for a hug!   Well, he gave me that hug and two weeks later I called him on the phone. The rest, let’s just say, is history.  We married six years ago and we have two handsome little boys that are absolutely a blessing to us.  We’ve had our ups and downs, but through any troubles, it just seems to have brought us closer and stronger as a couple.

No other song could have said better, how we felt for one another on our wedding day.  And became our “first dance” as husband and wife.

So as we celebrate our anniversary, I would greatly appreciate it if you could play that song:  “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait.  I thank God everyday for bringing Shawn and I together.
