My story begins about 3 years ago. You see, while driving in my car in several different locations around town, I spotted this man, maybe in his 30s, with a dog. The man was always holding a sign saying, “I need a job.”
Then, on a cold January day in 2010, on the shoulder of a busy highway, I spotted that dog once again. But this time, the man was gone. I stopped the car and opened the door. The dog seemed frightened, but after talking to her, she jumped in. And after a trip to the vet and some medical care, this Australian shepherd became my Cassidy. The vet thinks she is an older girl, and I must say she is one of the sweetest, smartest dogs I’ve ever known.
This January marks three years together, and I look forward to many more. I encourage anyone listening to rescue shelter animals. They will give you so much love & be your most faithful friends for life. And thank you, Cassidy, for rescuing me.
You asked about a special song. Well, I have just such a song - and a special evening. It was a Thursday in August, and I had won tickets to a concert in nearby Jonesboro from our local radio station. It was the first concert together, for my husband Herschel and me… after 14 years of marriage! Both of us had off work the next day, so we didn’t have to worry about that, and we dropped off the kids at my mother-in-law’s. And off we went to dinner and the concert to see Keith urban. It was an exciting night and we had front row seats.
Now my husband does not dance, but as Keith sang the song “Making Memories Of Us” Herschel grabbed me and we danced! It felt like we were the only two people there. Talk about making memories! That song will always have a special place in my heart.
