Hunter Hayes is an extraordinarily gifted young man. How gifted, you ask? Well, he was picking out songs from the radio on a toy accordion when he was two, singing on stage with Hank Williams, Jr. at age four… as well as playing with such names as Johnny and June Cash, and Charlie Daniels. He has become proficient on multiple instruments, including guitar, accordion, bass guitar, keyboards, and drums… and he can sing, too! Born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana in 1991, he’s had his sight on music since he could walk, writing his first song at age six.
After moving to Nashville, Hunter quickly landed publishing and record deals in 2010, and his debut single, titled “Storm Warning” has just entered our countdown. The lyrics portray a girl the singer meets who is “hotter than the July heat,” making him wish he’d been a little more prepared for the “storm” she brings. The music has a solid groove that is catchy, and besides playing every single instrument on the record, Hunter also co-produced it with none other than Dann Huff. Although he’s singing about a girl that needs a “Storm Warning,” the truth is that this young man is creating a storm of his own that will most certainly shake up the world of country music. How high will Hunter’s debut song rise? Tune in each weekend to the Country Top 40 and track his progress!
