Milestone Challenge - March 15, 2014

Congrats to Facebook fans Chase Wilemon and Carmene Granger! Together they correctly answered both parts of last week's challenge: (1), the song “I Miss My Friend” was Darryl Worley’s first #1; and (2), he had lost a very close friend and her daughter to a car accident, which made the lyrics that much more meaningful to him. Our Milestone this week...

Milestone Challenge - March 8, 2014

Congrats to facebook fan Dustin Rutherford for correctly answering last week’s challenge: Diamond Rio and “Unbelievable.” Our Milestone this week features the 2002 hit, “I Miss My Friend” by Darryl Worley. There are two reasons that song was particularly meaningful to him. Your challenge this week is to name both reasons. Get one right, and you’ve done fairly well. Get both right… and you’re a rock star. Be sure to tune in this weekend to check your answers, and good luck!

Milestone Challenge - March 1, 2014

The answers to last week’s challenge are, (1) “When You Say Nothing At All;” (2) Keith Whitley; (3) Alison Krauss; and (4), the writers were Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz.  Our Milestone this week features the title track out of the fifth album by a popular band that was released on Halloween during the late 1990s, and which also crossed over to the pop charts.  Your challenge this week:  name both the band and their song.

Milestone Challenge - February 22, 2014

The answer to last week’s challenge is Kathy Mattea, and “Come From The Heart.” Our Milestone this week features a song that was, in a way, the product of writer’s block. It became a #1 hit by one artist during the1980s, and then was re-recorded by a different artist in the ‘90s (who is the focus of our Milestone), and went on to claim CMAs “Single Of The Year” award that same decade. You have multiple challenges this week… the more you get right, the greater the bragging rights: (1) Name the song; (2), name the artist who made it a number one hit during the ‘80s; (3), name the artist who made it a hit during the ‘90s; and finally, (4)… name the songwriters. Good luck.

Milestone Challenge - February 15, 2014

The answer to last week’s challenge is Joe Diffie and “Bigger Than The Beatles.” Well, “you got to dance like nobody’s watchin’.” That’s a line from one of this week’s Milestone artist’s biggest hits. Despite a fairly slow start, she was awarded “Female Vocalist Of The Year” by both the ACMs and CMAs during the late 1980s, and she will talk about why she believes it took awhile to get her career rolling. Your challenge: name the artist and song.
